New patients

A first visit with no surprises.

An hour, start to finish. You’ll know what happens at every minute, and what anything costs before it happens.

$99

Exam, X-rays and cleaning for new patients without insurance. With most PPO plans it’s usually $0.

Not included: deep cleaning if you have gum disease, or any treatment — you get those prices in writing first.

Your first visit

Your first hour, minute by minute.

No surprises is a promise we can only keep if you know the plan. Here is the whole $99 visit.

60 min

exam · X-rays · cleaning

  1. 0–5 minWelcome

Forms are already done online, so no clipboard. We read your comfort plan, offer a blanket and water, and you sit down within five minutes of arriving.

  2. 5–10 minMeet your chair

We agree on the stop signal — raise a hand and we stop. Headphones on if you want them. Nothing touches your teeth yet.

  3. 10–20 minX-rays

Low-dose digital X-rays: four small bitewings, plus a panoramic if you haven’t had one in five years. A lead-free thyroid collar, no film in your mouth.

  4. 20–30 minExam, on the screen

The dentist looks at every tooth with a small camera and puts the pictures on the screen above you, so you see exactly what we see. Gums, bite, oral cancer screening.

  5. 30–50 minCleaning

Your hygienist removes plaque and tartar, polishes and flosses. Sensitive? We use numbing gel and slow down. Gum disease found? We stop and explain before doing a deeper cleaning.

  6. 50–57 minYour plan, with prices

If you need anything else, you get a written plan with the price and what your insurance will likely pay — before any treatment is scheduled. No pressure to decide today.

  7. 57–60 minOut the door

We file your insurance claim. Book your next cleaning now or later — your choice.

What to bring

Forms are online — we text you the link when you book. Fill them in on your phone in about five minutes.

  • A photo IDFor you, or for the parent bringing a child.
  • Your insurance cardA photo of both sides works. We check benefits before you arrive.
  • Your medicinesA list or a photo of the bottles — some affect bleeding or sedation.
  • Old X-rays, if easyGive us your last dentist’s name and we request them. Fewer new X-rays for you.

It’s been a while?

Five years. Ten. Nobody here will make it a thing.

It’s a rule, not a mood: no comments about how long it’s been, no “you should floss more” speeches. We tell you what we see, what matters now and what can wait — and you decide.

  • We start with the exam and X-rays — the cleaning can wait if you want to go slowly.
  • You see every photo on the screen before we recommend anything.
  • If you need work, you get options and prices, ranked by what matters most.

Kids

A first visit by the first birthday.

That’s the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s advice, and it’s mostly a meet-and-greet: a parent holds the child, we count teeth, show you how to brush them, and add fluoride varnish if needed. About 20 minutes.

From age three, kids get their own 30-minute cleaning — in the chair next to yours if you book together.

Questions people ask

Is the $99 visit really everything?

It covers the exam, the X-rays and a regular cleaning. If we find gum disease that needs a deeper cleaning (scaling and root planing), we stop, show you on the screen and give you the price first — you can do it the same day or another day.

I have insurance. Do I still pay $99?

No. With most PPO plans the first exam, X-rays and cleaning are covered at 100%, so you usually pay $0. The $99 price is for patients without insurance.

It’s been years since I saw a dentist. Is that a problem?

Not for us. About a third of our new patients haven’t been in five years or more. No lectures — we start where you are.

Can I bring my kids to the same visit?

Yes. Book everyone together and we seat you side by side, or back-to-back after school. Kids’ cleanings take about 30 minutes.

What if I’m very nervous?

Tell us in the comfort plan when you book. You can ask for nitrous oxide (you can drive home after) or talk to Dr. Ruiz about oral sedation for longer visits.
